AP Computer Science A Exam

May 2024

Thanks to Connie Annetta, head of Computer Science department of Brebeuf and leader of FTC team 18846 Brebotics, the STEAM cohort of 2025 was well prepared to write the AP Computer Science A exam for May 2024. The AP CSA exam reviewed in depth concepts of iteration, classes and objects, arrays and ArrayLists, polymorphism, recursion, searching and sorting and conditional statements to name a few.

Grade achieved: level 5 (A+ equivalent, highest grade achievable)

FTC First Robotics

Team member (builder, coder and substitute driver)
2021-2022

In my 2021-2022 academic year, the STEAM program was given the experience of competing in an example competition of FTC's Freight Frenzy. Miguel Sanchez, Alexander Greaves and myself were a team called "The Anonymous" where we each contributed to make a robot designed to win FTC's Freight Frenzy. Our robot featured a 180 degree arm, compact chassis, omni directional wheels and many other intricate features we could draw up.

Beaver Contest

Contestant, November 2022

Brebeuf STEAM students were able to compete in the Waterloo Beaver computing challenge, testing our logic and computing skills. I practiced using the live practice from Waterloo Beaver Computing Challenge practice website

Computer Engineering gr.11

AP class 2023 first sem

Placed in a gr.11 computer engineering class during grade 10.
Learned about:

  • servos, motors, wires, current, voltage, shorts, resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, switches and other computer parts and their uses.

  • Learned how to solder and use breadboard.

  • Create circuits in simulator program Edison

  • Made basic "roomba" Robot from scratch using etched PCB copper boards, wires, cpu chips, a gearbox, resistors and capacitors using soldering iron.

AP Fast-Tracked Computer Science

STEAM Program benefit

As a part of the STEAM program, I took AP Computer Science classes between grades 9 - 11. The reason I didn't take AP Computer Sciences in grade 12 is because I had already taken the grade 12 course in grade 11, the grade 11 course in grade 10 etc. In AP Fast-Tracked computer science I learned how to code in Java, and quickly become proficient in the popular coding language for it's multiple applications.

Coding Assignments

Assignments and projects

As a part of the STEAM program I created multiple programs using Python, Scratch and Java to create intricate graphic designs, databases, calculators and multiclass programs taking user input.

Scratch Coding Assignments

Ap gr.9 computer science class, second semester

Coded simple google doodle and game using scratch coding language. Scratch is a coding language typically used to introduce children to the world of coding. Scratch utilizes block coding to make it easier for new people to learn conditional statements and code.
