Science fair with SJMP
attendee and participant, June 2022
My project was a study conducted on sleep, and it's relation to reflex and cognitive and memory function. I took 30 students here at Brebeuf and had them report their usual amount of sleep, sleep they had gotten the previous day, then had them take a series of memory and reflex tests. Results found that the students' average sleep is below the recommended amount and that sleep does have a positive effect on reflex and memory
Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) Project
Learning experience, October 2022
Brebeuf STEAM program was given the opportunity to travel to Tommy Thompson Park to learn about biodiversity and take part in field research. We took part in collecting data for migrating birds, capture and release of birds and the observation of the many different species of birds thriving within the park and on lake Ontario. Additionally, we were able to learn about different fish species and the quality of life living in waters which are polluted by trash and chemical, as well as how invasive species can become detrimental to a functioning ecosystem.

TRCA Project
Learning Experience, January 2023
Brebeuf STEAM was again given an opportunity to travel to a TRCA project, lake St George to learn about the environment. We took part in a fun scavenger hunt where we used GPS to navigate through lake St George and it's surroundings. On this educational trip we learned about triangulation, coordinate systems, geocaching and the ecosystem and how it's been impacted by industrialization.

TMU Spectrometer lab & campus tour
Learning Experience, January 2024
Brebeuf STEAM was again given an opportunity to travel and get a tour around the Toronto Metropolitan University campus (formerly known as Ryerson University). At TMU, our Gr.11 ap Chemistry class was able to conduct a lab about spectrometers and chemistry in forensics; We learned important skills such as lab safety and procedure, how to collect data and the primary lesson, how to use a spectrometer. We were then given the tour of the different campuses. Overall our trip to TMU was a very educational, friendly and fun experience.
